Strömsbro IF participate in B -boys category

4/17/13

Strömsbro IF throw a challenge in B -boys category. They are looking to finish a difficult season with succes in HJC. Team Leader Jimmy Ryström tells us more about the team.

We’re a Swedish club from the northern suburbs of Gävle, called Strömsbro. The club has different branches, e.g. ice hockey and football. The ice hockey branch has made some success in the 1950’s and 60’s, when they used to play in the highest division.

Some of the players have been playing together since 2002. We’re not a team with individual “stars” – we’re one team. Almost every player are from the northern suburbs and we think that's one of the greatest reasons to why our team feels like a big family.

In Sweden, the season is over. And unfortunately it’s been the worst season ever with this team. One of the top moments was against Swedish team Nebo, which we won 10-3. But we had a very tough season with not so many great moments. We hope that we can end this season with a great result in Helsingfors.

We’re a good counter-attacking team whom work together. One weakness is that some players have a bad mood and sometimes we’ll take unnecessary penalties. Usually, we make our best games against the toughest opponents. We have quite hard to control the games against weaker teams.

It’s a great experience to travel together to another country and play against foreign teams. Also we thought the tournament was well organized and modern arenas compared to Swedish tournaments.

We think it’s a fun thing to do with the team since this is the last year with this team. As well as we’ll get experience from playing against foreign teams. Also, it will be very funny to see lots of nice games between foreign teams, we really looking forward to see how floorball are played in other countries. Finally, we're all very excited to try the karjalanpiirakka.

We don’t have a specific opponent we would like to play against, just non-Swedish teams.

Thank you for the writing Jimmy Ryström!
